Shenzhen's Ban on Migrant Worker Petitions Withdrawn

(Beijing) -- Shenzhen authorities apologized for a ban on migrant worker petitions over unpaid wages, instituted ahead of an international sports event.

The spokesperson said in a press conference on May 9 that the original document used improper wording.

A spokesperson from the bureau said the notification, which was released in late April, will be reworded and issued later to be based on principles that protect the rights of the migrant worker.
