For Migrants, Beijing School Bells Fall Silent

Authorities in Beijing's Haidian, Daxing and Chaoyang districts recently ordered doors chained at dozens of schools for what they described as "grave safety concerns."


But critics of the decision say the door chains are merely primitive tools for discriminating against the city's non-native children and their migrant-worker parents.
