QFII Increasingly Attractive, CSRC Official Says


(Beijing) – A number of foreign institutions have lined up to join or increase their investment in China’s Qualified Foreign Institutional Investors (QFII) program since the beginning of September, a sign of confidence in the nation’s growth potential, a source from the securities regulator says.

Nineteen institutions from the United States or Canada have pledged to increase their QFII investments to a total of US$ 3.1 billion, and 13 European institutions said they would apply for quotas of up to a combined US$ 8 billion, an official from China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) said.
