Baidu Tells Employees about Five Accused of Taking Bribes, Embezzling

(Beijing) – Search giant Baidu Inc. told its employees on November 10 that five department heads are in trouble for taking bribes or embezzling funds – two of them for taking money from companies that wanted to falsify the number of visits their websites received.

Company Vice President Victor Liang, who heads an ethics commission at the company, informed employees of the cases in an email that said Baidu had informed police after performing its own inquires. The company had recovered money the department heads got by accepting bribes or embezzling, Liang said.
