Northern China's Groundwater Gets Poor Marks

(Beijing) - Over 80 percent of groundwater sampled in 17 large cities and provinces in northern China last year was rated bad or extremely bad in quality, according to a report released by the country's top legislature on Aug. 30.
That means four-fifths of water pumped out of the ground in the country's north cannot be used for drinking, water conservationists said.
