Vice Premier Warns Against Turning Away Patients Amid Uproar Over Miscarriage
Chinese Vice Premier Sun Chunlan warned medical institutions across the country that there’s never an excuse to reject patients, after multiple cases of residents in the Covid-hit city of Xi’an being denied entry to hospitals due to drastic lockdown measures, sparking a public outcry.
One of the most high-profile cases was an eight-month pregnant woman who miscarried Saturday night at a hospital gate in the capital of Northwest China’s Shaanxi province. She had been refused admission because the validity of her most recent Covid-19 test result had expired.
