Weekend Long Read: How to Mend a Deepening Rift in China-U.S. Science Cooperation

Editor’s note: On May 30, the prominent science journal Nature published a report showing that the number of scholars who declare affiliations in both China and the United States on research papers has dropped by more than 20% over the past three years. This reflects a pattern of waning international scientific research cooperation, especially with regard to China and U.S.
In response to Nature’s article, The Intellectual, a Beijing-based science media platform, interviewed several scientists at home and abroad to understand how serious the situation is and what can be done to mitigate this divergence in relations between China and U.S. in science cooperation.
