China Carbon Watch: Monthly Trade Falls Nearly 30%

Trading on China’s national carbon emissions allowance (CEA) market in March fell nearly 30% from the previous month to 1.3 million tons.

Block trades accounted for close to 98% of the total, while the open market transaction volume slumped to its third-lowest on record.

On March 16, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment announced an implementation plan for CEA determination and allocation to covered entities for the current 2021-2022 compliance cycle.
