Pfizer Covid Drug Deployed in Virus-Hit Chinese Province For the First Time

Northeast China’s Jilin province has started treating Covid patients with Pfizer Inc.’s new Covid-19 pill, Paxlovid, the first time that the Covid-19 oral drug has been used on the Chinese mainland, as it battles an omicron outbreak which has already surpassed 20,000 cases.

A batch of 10,000 packs of the imported antiviral drug reached the provincial capital Changchun on Sunday night, 60% of which were distributed to hospitals across the province for clinical treatment, Zhang Li, vice head of the provincial health commission, told a Tuesday press conference.
