Global Chipmakers Win Waiver to Use Lower-Tech U.S. Products in Chinese Factories

Global chip giants Intel, Samsung and TSMC said they have obtained one-year waivers from Washington to use U.S.-made products in their lower-tech Chinese chip factories as escalated export restrictions rock the global industry.

Intel Corp. tweeted on Thursday that it has received a one-year authorization from the U.S. Department of Commerce to continue producing NAND memory chips in Dalian.
