CNOOC Denies Involvement in Bribe Taking

(.com.cn) There is no evidence to suggest employees of China National Offshore Oil Corp. took bribes from California-based valve-maker Control Components Inc., an official of the oil giant said.

CNOOC executive director Wu Guangqi told a media briefing in Hong Kong on Aug. 26 that the company learned of the scandal in April and set up five teams to investigate it. To date, no evidence was found to suggest CNOOC staff took bribes, but have rather implicated employees of CCI and its agents.
