Old Chums and a Troubled Telecom Chief

An old college buddy who became a successful telecom executive after a prison stint may have contributed to the downfall of a key official at China Mobile, Zhang Chunjiang.

Zhang, China Mobile's deputy general manager and party secretary, has been under investigation for unidentified "serious alleged violations" since at least December 26, when his criminal case was announced by the official Xinhua news agency.
