(Beijing)-- Chinese mobile phone manufacturer Meizu Technology Co. will halt sales of its M8 phone this month during its ongoing IPR dispute with Apple Inc., according to Meizu's chief executive Jack Wong.

Meizu's M8 touchscreen multimedia mobile phone bears a very similar resemblance to the Apple's iPhone. Wong said in a statement posted on the company's website that due to the "similar appearance" and failure of previous negotiations with Apple to reach an agreement, local IPR authorities have required Meizu to stop the production of the M8.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs on October 10 responded to the issue by saying Meizu "stole (Apple's) ideas and intellectual property"
