Xi Jinping

Xi Jinping is the newly elected general secretary of the communist party, and vice president of China. He spent 17 years in various government positions in Fujian Province.

The son of veteran party leader and revolutionary hero Xi Zhongxun, Xi was born in June 1953 in Fuping County, Shaanxi Province. Xi joined the party while working with peasants in Yanchuan County from 1969 to 1975 – one of millions of "educated youth" sent to the countryside during the Cultural Revolution.
