Xu Qiliang

Xu
Qiliang, the vice chairman of Central Military Commission, was born in
Linqu County, Shandong Province in March 1950.
He joined the party in July 1967 and graduated from the Air Force's Fifth Flight School, where he earned his college degree. Xu served in the air force for 33 years, and was promoted to lieutenant general in 1996. In 1999, he became vice commander of the Shenyang Military Region, and in 2004 he was appointed a deputy chief of staff, a post usually taken by army officers.
