ZTE Vows Appeal after Patent Defeat in Germany

A

(Beijing) – ZTE Corp. says it will appeal after a German court ruled against the company in a patent lawsuit filed by rival Huawei Technologies Co.

On March 15, the Mannheim District Court found that ZTE infringed on a Huawei patent called "key derivation" that is used to generate security keys in 4G wireless LTE network.

The court ruling also banned ZTE, China's leading maker of telecoms equipment, from selling 4G stations with the security feature in Germany.
