High Scores for Online Courses

Perhaps it is the tired teacher's roll call but in voting with their feet, college students have moved away from the traditional classroom. The slow desertion of the university classroom is the result of massive open online courses (MOOCs). On these online education platforms, universities no longer have walls and offer an education for students around the world. The courses require the same time management skills as any other academic undertaking, with the utility of the class dependent on the student's ability to schedule video viewings, online discussions and online corrections of homework.
From a technological perspective, online education does not represent innovation per se. Some people believe it is nothing more than a combination of multimedia, broadband access and networking software. Two major U.S. online course providers, Coursera and edX, now claim to have millions of users.
