The Avoidance of Labor and the Work of Art


Those that are not willing to work will not eat.  This is a value that has been widely accepted by the public in many societies after various emancipatory movments. The bourgeois revolution terminated the privileges  of the ruling nobility and required them to participate in productive labor. Even if the bourgeois capitalist was going to work, be it manually or intellectually, they owned the fruits of their labor. After the socialist revolution, the output of capitalists was no longer under the control of the individual worker but the state. With China's reform and opening up policies, the private sector is now determines the distribution of income. . But owners of private businesses and executives of state companies are not typically idle, and instead of denying some responsibility to work, they often become paragons of a dedicated work ethic as in the case of Bill Gates or Li Ka-shing.
