Central Bank 'Studies CDB's Return to Policy Bank Role'

(Beijing) – The central bank has recently started researching whether China Development Bank (CDB) should return to acting as a policy bank, sources with knowledge of the matter say.

Discussions on the issue have been going on inside the CDB and in the banking industry for a while, but this marks the first time the central government has given the idea serious thought, almost seven years after it required the bank to become a commercial lender.
