Wen Qingshan
Wen Qingshan, former chief accountant of China National Petroleum Co. (CNPC), was taken away by the Communist Party's graft fighters in December to "assist in investigations" involving corrupt officials at the country's biggest oil producer.
Wen, 55, had worked with CNPC for nearly 30 years. As chief accountant, he was responsible for the firm's financing and spending, including raising funds for the project of transferring gas from the country's west to east. He also oversaw CNPC's spending on building oil pipelines, which has reached 300 billion yuan annually in recent years.
Wen also played a role in several of the company's important business negotiations overseas, including those with Russian and Iran.
