Xie Ping Joins Caixin Media's Board of Trustees for Public Confidence Committee
November 30, 2016
Xie Ping, the former deputy manager of China Investment Corp., recently joined the Board of Trustees for the Public Confidence Committee of Caixin Media.
Xie is a professor at the PBC School of Finance (PBCSF) and a member of the Academic Committee of the China Financial Forum (CFF). Xie has spent his career in the People's Bank of China and served as the first general manager at Central Huijin Investment Ltd, where he made great contributions toward the reform of state-owned banks. Xie has received the Sun Yefang Economic and Scientific Award three times and received the inaugural Sun Yefang Financial Innovation Award in 2015.
Aiming at protecting the principle of "News for the Public Interests" against the interference of power and business, Caixin Media set up the Board of Trustees, the first such board among Chinese media, in March 2010. The Board of Trustees is independent of Caixin's Board of Directors and management, and is authorized to make key decisions on the editorial directions and the appointment of chief editor.
Caixin Media's Board of Trustees consists of prominent economic and academic leaders. The current members are Wu Jinglian, senior research fellow of the Development Research Center of China's State Council; Xu Hong, professor in the School of Journalism and Communication at Peking University; Xiao Meng, executive editor in BiJiao Magazine and Xie. Wu is the board chairman.
