In Memory of Ambassador Wu Jianmin: A Respected Contributor to China-France Friendship
Wu Jianmin, China’s former ambassador to France, died in a car accident on June 18, 2016. A prominent diplomat, Wu was widely respected in France and the diplomatic community. Known as the dove in Chinese foreign policy circles, Wu insisted on peaceful dialogue as best way to promote China’s interests abroad.
2021 is the fifth anniversary of Ambassador Wu Jianmin’s death. To honor his life, Les Amis de Wu Jianmin, a nonprofit organization based in Paris, made this video. Prominent French politicians, diplomats and industry leaders, including former French prime minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin and former French Foreign Minister Hubert Védrine, shared their memories of Wu and how they felt that had enhanced bilateral relations.
