SMART Talks: Innovation as a Driver of Climate Change Action
Session Introduction: Much of the discussion on climate change in the past has been focused on rules and regulations telling people what not to do. But what would it look like to move people away from top-down policies towards positive incentives promoting innovation and problem solving. Daniel Esty proposes an innovation-oriented sustainability strategy as a necessary framework for the future of our planet.
Dan Esty is the Hillhouse Professor at Yale University with primary appointments at Yale’s Environment and Law Schools and a secondary appointment at the Yale School of Management. He serves as director of the Yale Center for Environmental Law and Policy and co-director of the Yale Initiative on Sustainable Finance.
