Covid-19 continues without end so far and the battle between Russia and Ukraine is not yet approaching its end game. The relationships among major powers are undergoing profound changes while the world has been struck by frequent extreme weather events and the rise of anti-globalization. In the midst of changes unseen in a century, if people continue to condone zero-sum logic, protectionism and populism, the economic and social progress achieved through technological advancement and global cooperation will probably suffer severe setbacks. Thus, all countries urgently need to put aside their prejudices and reclaim the spirit of cooperation.

Meanwhile, entering a new stage of development, China is accelerating the building of the new development paradigm of "dual circulation" which allows the domestic and overseas markets to reinforce each other, with the domestic market as the mainstay, while enhancing the endogenous driver and reliability of domestic circulation and improving the quality and level of international circulation. Committed to multilateralism, China has continuously deepened its institutional opening-up and comprehensively promoted the construction of its Belt and Road Initiative, in order to share new development opportunities with the rest of the world.

It is a critical moment when China embarks on a journey toward its second centenary goal of building a modern socialist country in all respects. With its successful opening on the theme “holding high the great banner of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era,” the 20th CPC National Congress has shared China’s experience, contributed its insights and solutions to the world and set the tone for future development. At almost the same time, the 13th Caixin Summit, focusing on “New Development, Shared Opportunities”, will uphold our ongoing mission - promoting truth-seeking ethics and professionalism - to encourage further discussions on and understanding of a series of related subjects. We have never forgotten why we started, and thus our mission will be accomplished.
