


From 2017-2020 Doug was senior managing director of the U.S.-China Green Fund (now the Asia Green Fund). His previous investment experience includes Chief Scientific Officer at Khosla Ventures and Managing Director in the cleantech investment banking group at Piper Jaffray (now Piper Sandler). Prior to becoming an investor, Doug was Director of Biotechnology and Chief Scientist at Cargill, Inc. and a professor of chemical and biological engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with a focus on synthetic biology and fermentation technology.
Doug is on the board of directors of two non-profit organizations, the Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research (FFAR) in Washington, D.C. and Monarch Joint Venture (MJV) in St. Paul, Minnesota. He is on the Science Advisory Board of the Center for Enhanced Nanofluidic Transport (CENT) at MIT.
He has a B.S.E. in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University and a Ph.D. in Biochemical Engineering from MIT.
