His background in political science are gained from International Islamic University of Malaysia (BA), University of Notre Dame (MA), University of Cambridge (MPhil), The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy (MALD), Harvard University (Doctoral Research) and Meiji University (PhD).
Kim was once the Opinion Editorial specialist at The Straits Times Singapore, South China Morning Post, The Jakarta Post and The Edge. He is currently the Senior Advisor to the Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies (IAIS) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
In the prospective future, he looks set to return to his alma mater in Malaysia as a Professor in Practice in Fall 2024. Completing his 30 years sojourn understanding Global Issues. Kim was one a multiple Distinction Award Head Teaching Fellow at Harvard University.
He is also the incoming Deputy President of the Islam and Confucian Dialogue Society (ICDS) backed by the Malaysian government.
