Lorenz Helbling, born in Switzerland, studied history, Chinese and Art history in Zurich University, once studied in Fudan University in 1980s. He came back to Shanghai and established ShanghART Gallery, one of the earliest contemporary galleries in China in the early 1990s. In 2000, ShanghART Gallery as the only and first gallery in China participated in the world-renowned art fair Art Basel.
Lorenz Helbling was listed in “Power 100” released by Art Review in the years of 2006, 2007, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. (Art Review publishes its Power 100 list annually, ranking the art world's most influential persons, including collectors, curators, artists and art dealers.) In 2017, he was rewarded Shanghai “Magnolias Blooming” prize.
劳伦斯·何浦林出生于瑞士，在苏黎士大学主修历史、中文和艺术史，并于八十年代在复旦大学学习。九十年代初期重回上海创建了当代艺术画廊——香格纳画廊。2000年香格纳画廊作为中国唯一一家受邀画廊首次参加“巴塞尔艺术展”（Art Basel）。
劳伦斯·何浦林分别在2006，2007，2016，2017，2018，2019，2020年入选《艺术世界》（Art Review）杂志百人榜（Art Power 100）。（该杂志以年度评选全球当代艺术领域最有影响力的百人榜包括收藏家、博物馆馆长、艺术家和艺术经纪人）。2017年劳伦斯·何浦林荣获上海市“白玉兰纪念奖”。
