Dr. Shen has extensive experience in economic research, financial markets, and academia. From 2017 to 2026, he served as Chief Economist and subsequently Global Chief Economist at GF Securities. He also served as CEO of GF Holdings (Hong Kong) from 2019 to 2022 and Dean of the Industrial Research Institute from 2022 to 2026.
Previously, Dr. Shen was Chief Economist at Caixin Insights and Chairman of China Economic and Business Monitor (CEBM). He spent six years at Citi Global Markets Asia, where he served as Managing Director, Head of China Research, and Chief Economist for Greater China. Earlier in his career, he was Chief Economist at Caijing Magazine and Citibank (China), and taught economics as an Assistant Professor and Associate Professor at the China Center for Economic Research (CCER), Peking University.
Dr. Shen began his research career at the Research Center for Rural Development of the State Council and later at the Development Research Center of the State Council.
