Florian Krampe is Director of Studies for Peace and Development at the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), where he also directs the Climate Change and Risk Programme. He researches how climate change reshapes armed conflict, military planning and post-war recovery, and how states and companies price the resulting exposure. His research has been cited repeatedly in United Nations Security Council debates, and he has briefed NATO, the European Union, the African Union and the OSCE. He advises governments, armed forces and financial institutions. He writes on climate change as a security risk for the Financial Times, The Washington Post, fDi Intelligence and the World Economic Forum.

Krampe holds a PhD from Uppsala University, where he is an Affiliated Researcher at the Research School for International Water Cooperation. He has held a Specially Appointed Professorship at Hiroshima University’s Network for Education and Research on Peace and Sustainability.
