Professor Zhu previously served as Deputy Director of the Institute of International and Strategic Studies at Peking University and as Professor at Peking University’s School of International Studies. In 2014, he joined Nanjing University to lead the Collaborative Innovation Center for South China Sea Studies, the first national-level collaborative innovation center in the humanities and social sciences.
Professor Zhu’s research focuses on China–U.S. relations, East Asian regional security, and maritime security in the Asia-Pacific. He currently serves as Vice President of the Chinese Institute of International Relations, Vice President of the Chinese Association for American Studies, and Vice President of the Chinese Association for Japanese Studies. He was also selected for the national-level Ten Thousand Talents Program as a leading scholar in philosophy and social sciences.
Professor Zhu has been a visiting scholar at several internationally renowned academic institutions, including the Brookings Institution, Harvard University, the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), Tulane University, and Victoria University of Wellington. He previously served as a member of the 14th Nanjing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). He currently serves as a member of the 15th Nanjing Municipal Committee of the CPPCC and as a council member of the Jiangsu Association of Returned Overseas Chinese Scholars. He is also Chief Expert at a key think tank cooperating with the Central Foreign Affairs Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China.
