Bain Capital Invests $400 Million in Biofuels-Maker EcoCeres

Private equity firm Bain Capital LP has invested $400 million in Asian biofuels producer EcoCeres Inc., according to financial information provider iFinD on Thursday.

EcoCeres, a subsidiary of the energy conglomerate Hong Kong & China Gas Ltd., processes biowaste like spent cooking oil into the biofuel hydro-treated vegetable oil (HVO) and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The company can produce 300,000 tons of these two products a year, according to a company statement.
