China Cuts U.S. Treasury Holdings by $25.1 Bln in June
By staff reporter Wang Ziwu and Wu Ying
(.com.cn) China, the largest holder of U.S. Treasuries, reduced its holdings by US$25.1 billion in June to US$776.4 billion, according to data released by the U.S. Treasury Department on August 17.
The reduction followed a US$38 billion rise in May and a US$4.4 billion cut in April.
The sell-off might be due to rising concerns over the depreciating dollar, Zhong Wei, head of the finance research center at Beijing Normal University, said.
