A Reformer's Farewell to Central Huijin

On April 8, Xie Ping ended his tenure as president of Central Huijin Co. yet retained a position as vice president of China Investment Corp. (CIC). From now on, the 55-year-old Xie will work with CIC President Gao Xiqing on overseas investment decisions while heading the firm's Direct Investments Department.

It was an important change affecting an ongoing campaign to reform China's financial sector. Until now, Xie had been Central Huijin's first and only president, holding the reins for six years. During that time, he led restructurings at financial institutions, oversaw capital injections and managed public listings for major banks, all while pushing for comprehensive corporate governance.
