China Eyes Rio-Sao Paulo Railway Project
(Shanghai) – Chinese companies will very likely win the bid to build
Brazil's first high speed railway line, according to Sergio Amaral, chairman of
the China-Brazil Business Council.
Caixin learned that the high-speed railway project will link major Brazilian cities Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. Construction is set to be launched in the second half of this year and is expected to be completed in 2014 before the World Cup. The 500-kilometer railway line would require US$ 17.9 billion in total investment, according to the project's feasibility study.
