Inflationary Pressure Up


(Beijing) – The consumer price index in April rose 2.8 percent from a year earlier, accelerating from March's 2.4 percent rise. The rise was greater than the median 2.67 percent rise forecasted by 18 economists in a Caixin survey. CPI increased 0.2 percent from last March.

The producer's price index in April increased 6.8 percent compared with a year earlier. PPI increased 1.0 percent compared with the previous month. In March 2010, CPI rose 2.4 percent year-on-year while PPI rose 5.9 percent year-on-year.
