"When can customers start using Ping An Bank cards for transactions at SDB?"

It seemed a valid question from a reporter at a recent Ping An Insurance Group of China press conference, which was called by company officials to describe progress toward a planned merger of subsidiary Ping An Bank and Shenzhen Development Bank (SDB).

Ping An General Manager Zhang Zixin, however, gingerly sidestepped the reporter's issue and offered a general comment instead. The project's "first step," he said, "is to get the integration right."
