From the Wrecks of Disappointment
When I was the manager of Strategic Development at Motorola, Jim Collins' book, "Built to Last," hit the shelves. Motorola, as one of the visionary companies profiled by Collins, both thrilled me and impressed a spark of curiosity to uncover companies with similar qualities. At Columbia University's Graduate School of Business, I worked on research projects which sought to distill aspects of core competitiveness in multinational corporations like General Electric and Coca-Cola.
