Obama Misses the Touchdown
U.S. President Barack Obama came back to Washington from a 10-day Asian trip to face reality. The fallout from his devastating election loss has landed on the White House doorstep and the flow of positive news which carried him through half of his journey is over.
The swing came sharp and suddenly. The President had enjoyed several days of favorable photo ops, cordial meetings with leaders in India, Indonesia and South Korea. Like an aircraft carrier task force on the high seas, the President's entourage, including the White House press corps, moved in a bubble of their own making.
