China Unicom Plays Catch-Up in Mobile Payment Services

(Beijing) – The major Chinese telecom carrier China Unicom has announced a strategic partnership with Industrial Bank in an aim to develop the mobile payment business, after similar moves made by its rival, China Mobile.

Industrial Bank said in a statement on December 1 that the two will jointly develop mobile financing products including mobile payment, banking and other value-added services.
