China's Wind Power Capacity World's Largest

(Beijing) -- China's total wind power capacity is expected to reach 40 million kilowatts by the end of 2010, an increase of 55 percent from one year earlier – making the country the global leader in terms of total installation capacity.
Li Junfeng, deputy director of the Energy Research Institute under the National Development and Reform Commission, said on December 3rd at a press conference that according to his estimation, China's newly-added installation capacity of wind power will reach 15 million kilowatts to 17 million kilowatts in 2010.

As of 2009, China's wind power capacity has doubled for five consecutive years, jumping from the world's tenth position to the top, according to Li.
