Embracing a Moon in the River

In the past ten years, Chinese documentary-makers have gravitated toward two locations for their work. One is the Three Gorges Dam, and the other is the site of the Wenchuan Earthquake. Both have represented events that have elicited recurring memories in the public psyche. The construction of the Three Gorges Dam required the human migration of nearly 1.2 million people.
