One Foundation, Charities Finally Take Flight

(Shenzhen) – Movie stars, successful business leaders and well-known economists applauded as one while a flowing length of red silk floated to the floor at the Shenzhen Citizens Center on January 11.

And all eyes were fixed on a name spanning the silk banner – Shenzhen One Foundation – because it represented a fresh, hopeful direction for a popular charity as well as non-profit philanthropy across China.

Each audience member identified himself or herself as a "volunteer" for the foundation, including Jet Li, the entertainer and star of kung fu action movies who launched the charity four years ago.
