China Shares Plunge

(Beijing) – The Shanghai Composite Index dropped 2.62 percent on Tuesday to close at 2855.52 points on the news of tighter banking regulation rules and the unrest in the Mideast and North Africa. 

The volume of transactions on the Shanghai Stock Exchange reached 194.4 billion yuan, the highest in over two months. The transaction volume in Shenzhen hit 149 billion yuan.
