The day after the Fukushima nuclear power plant accident, tens of thousands of people poured on to the streets of Germany to protest nuclear power. In the following days, a number of nuclear powers, including China, all vowed to review their nuclear industry programs. Nuclear power generation, once the whipping-boy of the green movement, had been reclaimed by the movement in face of the climate change crisis.
