Anti-Demolition Village Leader Sentenced to Four Years in Prison

(Beijing) -- The former village council chief of Baihutou in southern Guangxi's Zhuang Autonomous Region, was sentenced to four years in prison and fined 200,000 yuan by a local court April 29, for illegal business operation.

The sentence was announced by a district court in Beihai city, two months after the trial opened in late February. Xu and two others, Zhang Chunqiong and Gao Shifu, were found guilty of operating an illegal parking lot in a popular tourist spot, taking in an estimated 150,000 yuan in illegal profits.
