WISCO Petitioner and Family Disappear

(Beijing) – A former security guard who campaigned for higher wages went missing in Guangzhou on April 27 and days later, witnesses say they saw his parents being abducted.

Wrapping two iron window bars with sheets and using a wooden pole for leverage, a former employee of Wuhan Iron and Steel (Group) Corp. (WISCO) broke out of a mental health institution in Hubei Province on April 19. He had been held in the building for over four years – many believe, because of his petitions for higher wages.
