Ai Weiwei Released on Bail

(Beijing) -- Contemporary Chinese artist Ai Weiwei has been released on bail after a three-month detention according to the Beijing Police Department on June 22.

Police said he was released on account of his "positive attitude" and full confession to his crimes, in addition to consideration given to the artist's health problems.

Authorities added that Ai has promised to pay a large fine for tax evasion.
