(Beijing) – In yet another thunder-stealing blow to rail projects, a former Ministry of Railways official recently said China's high-speed railways are missing one key element: the super high-speed.

In a recent interview with the 21st Century Business Herald, Zhou Yimin, former Director of the Science and Technology Department at the Ministry of Railways, said maximum speeds of 350 kilometers per hour for bullet trains, later raised to 380 kph, were fabricated at the recommendation of the former railways minister Liu Zhijun.
