Voyage of the Varyag

It's been more than a decade since the Soviet Admiral-Kuznetsov-class aircraft carrier Varyag sailed from Russia to China after its purchase at an auction for US$ 20 million in 1998. But on June 7, 2011, Chen Bingde, chief of the general staff of the People's Liberation Army acknowledged its existence for the first time, telling the Hong Kong Commercial Daily that a Chinese "aircraft carrier is under construction."
