Closer Look: Insiders Noisy Over Hush Money

A number of insiders from Beijing's Palace Museum told Caixin that numerous violations have been committed by museum management prior to the most recent controversy, including a lump-sum bribe in 2009, as part of a cover-up for another scandal.

Multiple sources confirmed to Caixin that a scandal erupted at the museum when a ticket scalping ring run by tour guides and security guards was uncovered by museum management. The process was filmed by an anonym who blackmailed the museum for 200,000 yuan.
